Alzheimer’s and Eyecare
Dementia has various presentations and eye care professionals are often the first to recognize early cognitive changes. This course will discuss the unique characteristics of each type of dementia including Alzheimer’s as well as important tests that help establish the diagnosis. New treatment options as well as legacy medical therapy will be reviewed including ongoing trials of GLP-1 medications which could prove beneficial in certain categories of patients. These patients can be very challenging to the eye care professional and we will review how to handle both the patient as well as the caregiver when performing seemingly every day office as well as surgical procedures.
